Following the imam from the lower floor

Question

[There is] a two-storey house in which the upper floor has no window, opening or the like through which those on the lower floor could be seen. If congregational prayer is performed in this two-storey house, with the imam on the upper floor, and some followers follow this imam on the lower floor or under the lower awning, is this following (iqtida') valid or not — given that the voice of the imam or the mukabbir can be heard?

Answer

If it is one and the same house, with the imam on the upper floor and some followers on the lower floor, in a roofed part or under an awning, and they are fully aware of the imam's takbirs, then this following is valid.
