Using a pledged watch
Question
Question: If a watch has been taken in pledge for thirty rupees, may that watch be used or not, when there is no hope of its return in future?
Answer
The one who has given thirty rupees and taken the watch in pledge has no right to use it. Let a deal be made with the owner: when he sells (it) for those thirty rupees or at whatever price, then it will be valid for the buyer to use it.
