Where Does Ayat al-Kursi End?
Question
Where does Ayat al-Kursi extend to, and how many verses does it contain? I asked my shaykh ﵀ and he said it is three verses — that is, up to the word “khalidun” (خَالِدُونَ). Now, however, one person says it is only one verse. Please clarify this.
Answer
Ayat al-Kursi extends up to the words “al-‘Aliyy al-‘Azim” (الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ, “the Most High, the Most Great”). This is clearly stated in “Sharh Hisn al-Hasin” and in the commentary on Sahih al-Bukhari.
