Fireworks to Announce the Nikah

Question

Are fireworks at a nikah permissible or not, with the intention that people come to know of the nikah, and not with the intention of spectacle?

Answer

It is impermissible. Yes, announcing by means of the daf (frame drum) is permissible. [ar]في الغياثية: ضرب الدف في النكاح إعلانًا وتشهيرًا سنة[/ar] In “al-Ghiyathiyya”: “Beating the daf at a nikah for announcement and publicising it is sunna.” [ar]وفي الخلاصة: لا بأس بالدف ليلة العرس[/ar] In “al-Khulasa”: “There is no harm in the daf on the wedding night.”
