Variation of the Mahr According to One’s Means

Question

If the mahr is fixed according to financial position, then how much mahr should be fixed for me, given that the total income of my workshop is approximately one thousand rupees a month, in which my one brother, two sisters and mother also have a share?

Answer

The Shari‘a has not set a limit for this. Let an amount be decided that is easy for you to pay and that is also appropriate to the girl’s circumstances.
