Should the girl fix her own mahr herself?

Question

Should the girl herself fix and state her mahr at the time of the nikah? Is there any proof regarding this in the Noble Qur’an or the noble hadith? If there is any hadith on this, please be sure to write it. Here the Ahl-e Hadith say that the girl will fix her mahr herself. No such hadith has come to my notice. If this is purely a matter of fiqh, kindly inform me of the answer.

The Shari‘a has fixed the minimum amount of mahr: [ar]لا مَهرَ أقل من عشرة دراهم[/ar] “There is no mahr less than ten dirhams,” by the narration of al-Daraqutni, and it is also in al-Bayhaqi; Hafiz Ibn Hajar al-‘Asqalani ﵀ (the commentator on al-Bukhari) wrote that it is hasan. But no limit has been set for the maximum.
