Nikah Is Not Permitted During the ‘Idda
Question
After how many months and how many days following the talaq should nikah be contracted with another young man? Five months have passed since the talaq was given, there is a one-year-old boy, and menstruation does not occur. In such a situation, is it permissible to contract nikah on completion of the ‘idda or not?
Answer
When menstruation has come three times after the talaq, then the ‘idda will end and a second nikah will be valid. The child in her lap is one year old, five months have passed since the talaq, and menstruation is not occurring — so for now there is no permission for nikah.
