Reciting the Qur’an at the grave

Question

What is the ruling on reciting the Qur’an at the grave? Because in al-Durr al-Mukhtar (vol. 2) it is written that it is makruh. Many books also state that Qur’an should not be recited at graves, because when verses about punishment are recited there, it may increase the repetition of punishment for the deceased, thus increasing the torment. For this reason it is said that only verses of mercy should be recited at graves, and the entire Qur’an should not be recited.

Answer

According to us, reciting the Noble Qur’an at the grave and conveying its reward to the deceased is permissible, provided that it is not treated as a binding or fixed practice. The reference you mentioned from al-Durr al-Mukhtar I have not seen. Please provide a precise reference such as the chapter, section, or page, so it may be examined.
