Visiting graves at the beginning of every year

Question

In Benares, the devotees of the ‘urs (death anniversaries of saints) and the clamorous people of bid‘a have now, as befits the season, struck up the song of niyaz (offerings made under a vow), fatiha, ‘urs and all the other accompaniments. In this connection, concerning the annual attendance at the shrines, the opposing party has written only that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to go to Uhud every year taking the Companions with him. Answer

Some special circumstances also pertain to the martyrs of Uhud. For example, despite the funeral prayer having been offered over them before burial, the funeral prayer was offered over them a second time during the blessed lifetime (of the Prophet ﷺ)
