Washing a deceased Muslim by a person who does not pray

Question

Can a person who does not perform the prayer wash the body of a deceased Muslim, even when people who perform the prayer are present? And if he himself does not perform the funeral prayer?

Answer

The washing will still be valid even if it is done by such a person. However, it is better that the washing be performed by a person who prays and adheres to the Shariah. As for not performing the funeral prayer, it is considered a major sin.
