Asking Help of “Bhagwan”

Question

There is a man who observes fasting and prayer. In a sworn written statement he wrote: “May Bhagwan (a Hindu term for God or a deity) help me.” What is the ruling concerning such a person?

Answer

For saying this he should repent and seek forgiveness. Help should be asked of Allah alone: the word “Bhagwan” does not carry the meaning that the word “Khuda” (the Persian word for God) carries.
