Question

Question: What is meant by ‘the hadith of the Sihah Sitta’? How many books of hadith are there in total? Which book of hadith is reliable and authentic? What is the name of the book on fabricated (mawdu‘) hadiths?

Answer

‘Sihah Sitta’ is the name given to [the collection of] al-Bukhari, Muslim, al-Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, al-Nasa’i, and Ibn Majah. The total number of hadith books is beyond counting. These Sihah Sitta are reliable and authentic, and besides them many others are reliable as well.
