Question

What is the ruling on taking a weekly Thursday contribution from children when teaching the Holy Qur’an, while also taking a salary? And is it permissible to remove a child who does not give it?

Answer

The teacher has the right, at the time of taking up employment, to stipulate: “I will take my salary, and every Thursday I will take so much money; whoever wishes may have his child taught by me.” However, the higher station is not to do this, but rather to teach everyone and not remove the one who does not give the Thursday contribution.
