Giving cloth for a coat as a present

Question

Question: Some of my relatives wear coats, trousers and the like. If I take them cloth for trousers or a belt (with which the waist is fastened), will I receive the reward (thawab) of a present or not?

Answer

Do not take the cloth with the intention that a coat and trousers be made from it; rather, take it for making such clothing as is correct to wear without any reservation. As for tying a belt around the waist, that is correct.
