A gift from a non-Muslim
Question
Question: Is it permissible for a Muslim to accept a gift from a non-Muslim who lives off interest?
Answer
Interest that is haram for a Muslim is also haram for a non-Muslim. Therefore, if he gives a gift out of interest, accepting it is impermissible; and if he gives from what is lawful, then accepting it for some need and benefit (maslaha) is permissible, but accepting it out of love, or for the sake of honouring him and his religion, is impermissible.
