What to do with play items that children have

Question

Some children bring play items to the madrasa. What is the ruling if the teacher, on seeing them, does not return them, as a deterrent, so that the children are reformed?

Answer

If such items are things that have value (dhawat al-qiyam), he should destroy them and give the children their value from his own pocket.
