Broadcasting weather forecasts based on signs
Question
Question: The meteorological department of our government broadcasts reports of rain, storms, hurricanes and the like over the radio. From the standpoint of the Shari‘a, what is the ruling on believing in them? And how does that department make its estimates?
Answer
This is announced on the basis of indications and signs; sometimes it is correct and sometimes wrong. It is not a Shar‘i proof in which certain belief would be wajib.
