Changing the name Tara

Question

Question: A girl is named Tara (تارہ). This girl is married. Her husband wants to change her name in order to gain a good name. Kindly consider the matter and write a reply. I had already sent you an envelope before this as well.

Answer

The name Tara is not bad either; however, if the husband wishes to give her a better name than this and the wife is also agreeable, it is permitted. The name ‘A’isha (عائشة) or Fatima (فاطمة) is good. I am not aware of an envelope on this subject having come before this; the present envelope has been received, and the reply has been written the same day.
