Why are not all the descendants of our master Adam ﵇ sayyids?

Question

Question: In a magazine I came across the following question; it also contains an answer, but the answer does not correspond to the question. Understanding the answer to this question is very important for ordinary Muslims, so I sincerely request you to write a complete answer to the following question in entirely simple and easy language, with proofs, clearly and plainly, so that ordinary Muslims can understand it well.

Answer

The word “sayyid” has two meanings. One meaning is master, chief, one whom it is obligatory to obey. In this sense Hazrat Adam ﵇ is called “Sayyiduna” (our master), and all of his offspring who were prophets and whom it was obligatory to obey are called “Sayyiduna” — such as Sayyiduna Nuh ﵇, Sayyiduna Ibrahim ﵇, etc.
