Butchers calling themselves Quraysh

Question

Question: The butchers of India call themselves Quraysh. The question is: what are the qualifications of the Quraysh — which people are entitled to be called Quraysh?

Answer

A man named Quraysh lived in Arabia who, on account of his character and deeds, was reckoned very high in his age. Those of his descendants who were in Arabia were the Quraysh. It is true that people of this line and lineage also went beyond Arabia, but it does not follow that whoever went out of Arabia is a Qurayshi.
