Whose right is the grain given in a water jug at a circumcision?
Question
Question: At the time of a circumcision people bring some grain to the mosque, filled in a water jug. Whose right is it? Other things of this kind also come — what should be done with them? Kindly inform us of the ruling of the Shari‘a.
Answer
If, at a circumcision and the like, something is given to the mosque as a custom, considering it binding, it should not be accepted. If something is given to the imam or the muezzin out of joy, there is no harm, and it is the right of the one to whom it is given. And if something is given for the mosque, then it is the right of the mosque itself.
