Will one who dies without taking medicine be held accountable?
Question
Question: Hazrat Abu Bakr al-Siddiq ﵁ said that health does not come from medicines. In that case, is taking medicine useless? For it is a fact that if Allah Most High wills, the medicine will help, and otherwise it will not; Allah Most High can grant healing even without a cause. What seems best is that one should adopt the means and not abandon medicine. But if someone does not adopt the means and dies, while that person was able to adopt the means, will he be held accountable (mu’akhadha) or not?
Answer
If that means is not certain, and the person died without adopting it, he will not be held accountable.
