Cutting down a fruit tree
Question
Question: What is the ruling on having a fruit-bearing tree, or a tree without fruit, cut down while it is green and flourishing, and trading in it or using it for one’s necessary purposes — is it permissible or impermissible?
Answer
This disposal is permissible according to need. Having something of general benefit cut down without need is blocking benefit and wasting property; moreover, a green tree performs tasbih (glorifies Allah), and cutting it is stopping it from tasbih.
