A Non-Muslim Left a Deposit, Then Died with No Heirs
Question
Zayd was holding a trust (amana) belonging to a non-Muslim. The non-Muslim died, and he has no heirs either. What is now the proper recipient of this trust?
Answer
When the one who deposited the trust has died and he has no heirs either, the amount of this trust should be given in charity (sadaqa) to the poor. Students of a religious madrasa are also proper recipients of it.
