What to do if paying tax causes a loss

Question

Question: I am engaged in trade, and other people are engaged in the same trade. I pay the tax in full, while the others do not pay the tax in full. I suffer a loss and others gain. What should I do in such a situation?

Answer

Continue trading with honesty; do not let anyone’s right remain owed by you — whoever has a right due from you, pay it to him in full; and whatever loss occurs, remain patient and grateful towards the divine decree.
