Selling Mangoes at the Blossom Stage
Question
Mangoes and other fruits that are bought nowadays are generally bought through an impermissible sale, because most often they are bought in this way: the mangoes are still very small and are bought at that very time, and some people buy them even while the blossom is just appearing. Since the sale was impermissible, is it permissible or not to eat the fruits that are bought and eaten after they ripen? If it is permissible, then for what reason? Since the original sale was void (batil)
Answer
The sale of mangoes at the blossom stage is void (batil). Eating and buying mangoes purchased through such a sale is forbidden: for anyone who knows of it, whether he is a scholar or an ignorant person, buying them is impermissible.
