Illumination on Blessed Nights

Question

What is the ruling on illumination (lighting a multitude of lamps) on the night of 12 Rabi‘ al-Awwal? Is illumination on 12 Rabi‘ al-Awwal established from the Qur’an, the noble Hadith and Hanafi fiqh? Kindly grant a reasoned and detailed answer and thereby guide the Muslims of the Ahl al-Sunna wa’l-Jama‘a. Explain, and you shall be rewarded (بينوا توجروا).

Answer

The honour and reverence of the best of the messengers, the Seal of the Prophets ﷺ, and love and devotion to him are the very essence of faith. The wretched one in whose heart there is no devotion and love for the Accepted Messenger ﷺ is in reality a stranger to faith itself.
