There Is No Proof for the Fatiha over Food Placed in Front

Question

Did the Noble Prophet ﷺ, the noble Companions ﵃, Imam Hasan and Imam Husayn ﵄, the Tabi‘in, Hazrat Imam Abu Hanifa ﵀, Hazrat Ghawth-e Pak (‘Abd al-Qadir Jilani ﵀) and Hazrat Khwaja Mu‘in al-Din Chishti ﵀ ever place food in front of themselves, recite the fatiha over it and gift [its reward to the dead]?

Answer

These elders were followers of the Sacred Law and adherents of the sunna — how could they adopt a way that is without proof and wrong?
