Imam Mahdi

Question

Is belief in the appearance of Imam Mahdi, according to the Qur’an and hadith, among the essentials of the religion (daruriyyat al-din)? If someone does not accept the appearance of Imam Mahdi, what is the ruling of the noble Sacred Law concerning him?

Answer

Concerning the Caliph of Allah, al-Mahdi, details are given in “Sunan Abi Dawud”: his signs, the pledge of allegiance on his hand and his deeds are mentioned there. Whoever does not accept the appearance of Imam Mahdi does not accept these hadiths; he should be corrected so that he may come onto the straight path.
