Is There Intercourse in Paradise, and Who Are the Ghilman?

Question

After the people of Paradise enter Paradise, the women of this world will become sixteen years of age and will be married to the men of Paradise, while the houris and ghilman will be there to serve them. But will there be intercourse with them in Paradise or not? For Paradise is a pure place, and by intercourse a person becomes impure; so how can Paradise be a place for impure people? “Hur” and “ghilman” are two words: by hur the woman of Paradise (houri) is meant, but what is meant by ghilman?

Answer

There, intercourse will entail neither emission of semen, nor the obligation of ghusl, nor impurity. The ghilman (young attendants) will be for service, not for intercourse. The full details are given in “al-Futuhat al-Makkiyya”; hadiths have also been transmitted on this subject.
