Description

Dimethyl polysiloxane (PDMS, silicone oil) is a synthetic polymer: silicon from quartz + methyl chloride (from methanol) → methylchlorosilanes (copper catalyst) → hydrolysis of dimethyldichlorosilane with trimethylchlorosilane → polymerisation, stripping, filtration. Antifoaming agent, anticaking agent, glazing agent. The sources name no animal raw material in the synthesis.
