Description

Calcium carbonate E170 is made by grinding limestone, chalk, marble (GCC) or by precipitation: limestone → lime → carbonation with CO2 (PCC); chloride and lime-soda routes exist. China allows heavy carbonate from oyster shells; in the US calcium oxide may come from shells; in Japan shell, eggshell and coral calcium are separate additives. Possible links: fatty (tallow)
