In this Hijri month, Safar (صَفَر), the book “Siratul Mustafa” records 12 events from the life of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his companions. Dates follow the text of the book; where scholars differ on a date (ikhtilaf), the description gives the main view and the others.

According to the scholars of the sira, the Prophet ﷺ left Mecca on Thursday, the 27th of Safar, and spent three nights in the Cave of Thawr; Ibn Hazm and al-Mughultay adopted this view. Ikhtilaf (scholarly disagreement) on the date. In the calendar: the 27th of Safar (as in the main text of the book: the view the author considers more correct or calls mashhur (widely held)). Other opinions: the 1st of Rabi' al-Awwal: on p. 373 the author writes that the Prophet ﷺ "set out from Mecca" on the 1st of Rabi' al-Awwal; this may refer to his leaving the cave (the same chapter also disputes the day of the week: Monday according to al-Hakim, Thursday according to al-Khwarizmi and Ibn Hajar).
In the last ten days of the month of Safar the Messenger ﷺ went out at night to pray for the dead at al-Baqi', and on returning felt a headache and fever; it was a Wednesday, the day of Maymuna's ﵂ turn. The illness lasted 13 or 14 days.

In the same month of Safar, Abu Bara Amir ibn Malik came to the Messenger ﷺ and proposed sending men to Najd; seventy reciters of the Quran were sent under al-Mundhir ibn Amr ﵁, and they were treacherously slain at Bir Ma'una by the men of Amir ibn at-Tufayl.
In Safar 8 AH, Ghalib ibn Abdullah was sent to Kurayd; at night he attacked Banu al-Mulawwih and seized camels; heavy rain filled the valley and protected the detachment from pursuit.
Three Companions came to Medina and accepted Islam; the author gives two views about the time: Safar 8 AH and the period after Khaybar (7 AH). On the authority of Amr ﵁: at the beginning of Safar 8 AH. Ikhtilaf (scholarly disagreement) on the date. In the calendar: Safar 8 AH (as in the main text of the book: the view the author considers more correct or calls "mashhur (widely held)"). Other views: 7 AH — another view: they accepted Islam after Khaybar in 7 AH (the figure in the text is "ےھ").
