The Holy Quran 8:58 — Surah Al-Anfal

Translation

Should you ever really fear (any) betrayal from any nation (with whom you have made a pledge), then throw back (cancel) the treaty that you have contracted with them (in a manner that they and you are) on an equal footing (in a manner that they know as well as you that no treaty now exists. It is therefore necessary to first inform the opposite party that you intend cancelling the treaty). Verily Allaah does not like those who betray (those who break their treaties without first notifying the opposite party of their intentions).

Tafsir (excerpt) —
