The Holy Quran 6:157 — Surah Al-An'am

Arabic text

أَوْ تَقُولُوا۟ لَوْ أَنَّآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْنَا ٱلْكِتَـٰبُ لَكُنَّآ أَهْدَىٰ مِنْهُمْ ۚ فَقَدْ جَآءَكُم بَيِّنَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ ۚ فَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّن كَذَّبَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَصَدَفَ عَنْهَا ۗ سَنَجْزِى ٱلَّذِينَ يَصْدِفُونَ عَنْ ءَايَـٰتِنَا سُوٓءَ ٱلْعَذَابِ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَصْدِفُونَ

Translation

Or (The Qur'aan was revealed) so that you do not say, "If a Book was revealed to us, we would have been more rightly guided than them (than the Jews and Christians)." Indeed proof (argument), guidance and mercy has reached you from your Rabb (complete Deen has come to you)! Who is more unjust than he who rejects Allaah's Aayaat and prevent (others) from (accepting) them? Soon We shall severely punish those who prevent (others) from Our Aayaat because of their prevention (act of turning away).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ولئلا تقولوا -أيها المشركون-: لو أنَّا أُنزل علينا كتاب من السماء، كما أُنزل على اليهود والنصارى، لكنَّا أشدَّ استقامة على طريق الحق منهم، فقد جاءكم كتاب بلسانكم عربي مبين، وذلك حجة واضحة مِن ربكم وإرشاد إلى طريق الحق، ورحمةٌ لهذه الأمة. فلا أحد أشد ظلمًا وعدوانًا ممن كذَّب بحجج الله تعالى وأعرض عنها!!
