The Holy Quran 6:156 — Surah Al-An'am

Arabic text

أَن تَقُولُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أُنزِلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبُ عَلَىٰ طَآئِفَتَيْنِ مِن قَبْلِنَا وَإِن كُنَّا عَن دِرَاسَتِهِمْ لَغَـٰفِلِينَ

Translation

And (We have revealed the Qur'aan) so that you do not say, "A Book was revealed only to the two groups before us (the Jews and Christians) and we were unaware of their studies."

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

وأنزلنا هذا القرآن; لئلا تقولوا -يا كفار العرب-: إنما أُنزل الكتاب من السماء على اليهود والنصارى، وقد كنا عن قراءة كتبهم في شغل، ونحن ليس لنا بها علم ولا معرفة.
