The Holy Quran 5:14 — Surah Al-Ma'idah

Arabic text

وَمِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا نَصَـٰرَىٰٓ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَـٰقَهُمْ فَنَسُوا۟ حَظًّا مِّمَّا ذُكِّرُوا۟ بِهِۦ فَأَغْرَيْنَا بَيْنَهُمُ ٱلْعَدَاوَةَ وَٱلْبَغْضَآءَ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۚ وَسَوْفَ يُنَبِّئُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَصْنَعُونَ

Translation

We had (also) taken a pledge from those who say, "We are Christians!" (helpers or from Nazareth) but they forgot a great portion of the advice given to them (in the Injeel, such as the command to believe in Muhammad ﷺ when he appeared). So We have stirred up enmity (malice) and hatred (hostility and dispute) between them until the Day of Judgement. Soon (on the Day of Qiyaamah) Allaah shall inform them of what (wrongs) they used to do (and punish them for it).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

وأخذنا على الذين ادَّعوا أنهم أتباع المسيح عيسى -وليسوا كذلك- العهد المؤكد الذي أخذناه على بني إسرائيل: بأن يُتابعوا رسولهم وينصروه ويؤازروه، فبدَّلوا دينهم، وتركوا نصيبًا مما ذكروا به، فلم يعملوا به، كما صنع اليهود، فألقينا بينهم العداوة والبغضاء إلى يوم القيامة، وسوف ينبئهم الله بما كانوا يصنعون يوم الحساب، وسيعاقبهم على صنيعهم.
