The Holy Quran 31:17 — Surah Luqman

Arabic text

يَـٰبُنَىَّ أَقِمِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَأْمُرْ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَٱنْهَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ وَٱصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَآ أَصَابَكَ ۖ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ مِنْ عَزْمِ ٱلْأُمُورِ

Translation

"O my beloved son! Establish salaah, instruct (others to do) good, forbid (them from) evil and patiently endure whatever (difficulty) afflicts you. Verily, this (ability to bear difficulties with patience) is from among the most resolute of matters (demanding the most courage and determination)."

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

يا بنيَّ أقم الصلاة تامة بأركانها وشروطها وواجباتها، وأْمر بالمعروف، وانْه عن المنكر بلطفٍ ولينٍ وحكمة بحسب جهدك، وتحمَّل ما يصيبك من الأذى مقابل أمرك بالمعروف ونهيك عن المنكر، واعلم أن هذه الوصايا مما أمر الله به من الأمور التي ينبغي الحرص عليها.
