The Holy Quran 31:18 — Surah Luqman

Arabic text

وَلَا تُصَعِّرْ خَدَّكَ لِلنَّاسِ وَلَا تَمْشِ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مَرَحًا ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ كُلَّ مُخْتَالٍ فَخُورٍ

Translation

"Do not (out of pride) turn your face away from people (refusing to listen to them) and do not walk arrogantly on earth. Verily Allaah detests every arrogant boaster."

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ولا تُمِلْ وجهك عن الناس إذا كلَّمتهم أو كلموك؛ احتقارًا منك لهم واستكبارًا عليهم، ولا تمش في الأرض بين الناس مختالا متبخترًا، إن الله لا يحب كل متكبر متباه في نفسه وهيئته وقوله.
