The Holy Quran 12:81 — Surah Yusuf

Arabic text

ٱرْجِعُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَبِيكُمْ فَقُولُوا۟ يَـٰٓأَبَانَآ إِنَّ ٱبْنَكَ سَرَقَ وَمَا شَهِدْنَآ إِلَّا بِمَا عَلِمْنَا وَمَا كُنَّا لِلْغَيْبِ حَـٰفِظِينَ

Translation

(The eldest brother said to the others) "Return to your father and say, 'O our father! Indeed your son has stolen. We are testifying only to what we know (to what we have seen i.e. that the cup was found in his satchel), and we have no knowledge of the unseen (we do not know whether it was really he who stole it).'"

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ارجعوا أنتم إلى أبيكم، وأخبروه بما جرى، وقولوا له: إن ابنك «بنيامين» قد سرق، وما شهدنا بذلك إلا بعد أن تَيَقَّنَّا، فقد رأينا المكيال في رحله، وما كان عندنا علم الغيب أنه سيسرق ��ين عاهدناك على ردِّه.
