The Holy Quran 10:28 — Surah Yunus

Arabic text

وَيَوْمَ نَحْشُرُهُمْ جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ نَقُولُ لِلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا۟ مَكَانَكُمْ أَنتُمْ وَشُرَكَآؤُكُمْ ۚ فَزَيَّلْنَا بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ وَقَالَ شُرَكَآؤُهُم مَّا كُنتُمْ إِيَّانَا تَعْبُدُونَ

Translation

(Do not forget) The day when We will gather them all together and We shall then tell those who committed Shirk, “You and your partners (your gods) remain where you are (so that you may account for your behaviour in the world)!" We will then separate them and their partners (their gods) will say, "You never did worship us (because the object of worship is to please the one being worshipped and instead of pleasing us, you have caused more problems for us here in the Aakhirah) !"

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

واذكر -أيها الرسول- يوم نحشر الخلق جميعا للحساب والجزاء، ثم نقول للذين أشركوا بالله: الزموا مكانكم أنتم وشركاؤكم الذين كنتم تعبدونهم من دون الله حتى تنظروا ما يُفْعل بكم، فَفَرَّقْنا بين المشركين ومعبوديهم، وتبرَّأ مَن عُبِدُوا مِن دون الله ممن كانوا يعبدونهم، وقالوا للمشركين: ما كنتم إيانا تعبدون في الدنيا.
