Zakat on printing paper

Question

Is there zakat on the value of the paper that is kept with us for printing books? It should be clear that this paper is not for trade; rather, books are printed on it and sold — we do not sell blank paper. Note: if anything needs to be asked, kindly ask, or if anything needs explanation; in any case, kindly write a detailed and well-explained answer, so that we are not held to account before Allah.

Answer

Zakat will be fard on this paper. It falls under the ruling of the books, not under the ruling of the machines.
