The method of paying zakat on trade goods

Question

What is the method of zakat on trade goods: should one value the goods on hand at the end of the year and pay, or is there some other method?

Answer

On the completion of the year, whatever goods are on hand, let him pay zakat according to whatever their value is at that time.
