Building Dwellings on the Roof of the Mosque’s Shops to Be Let on Rent
Question
Eleven shops have been built on behalf of the Congregational Mosque of Hardoi. The Anjuman-i Islamiya (Islamic society) of Hardoi district intends to take the roof of these shops on rent and have residential dwellings built on it. Its income will go into the general fund of the said society, which will be spent on its various departments: the Madrasa Furqaniya, the Congregational Mosque, aid to widows and travellers, the preparation and shrouding of unclaimed Muslim dead, and so on.
Answer
If there is no fear of harm to the Congregational Mosque from this, the roof of the shops may be given on rent. Then let the society have residential dwellings built there: the roofs will belong to the mosque and the dwellings on them to the society.
