Demolishing an old mosque

Question

If a mosque is demolished without the permission of the former mutawalli (trustee of the waqf), is that permissible or impermissible according to the Shari‘a?

Answer

Why was the mosque demolished? Had it become old, or was the space insufficient, or is it something else? Let this be written clearly; then an answer will be given.
