Income from advocacy: zakat and Hajj

Question

Question: In view of present times, is zakat obligatory (wajib) on money earned from advocacy (wakala) that reaches the zakat nisab, or not? And does Hajj become obligatory by virtue of this money, or not?

Answer

In Hawadith al-Fatawa, part two, p. 153, some explanations (tawjihat) are given from which the permissibility of the legal profession follows under certain conditions; but those conditions are generally not observed.
