Ruling on talaq when the wife goes to her father’s house without permission

Question

Question: About four times my wife has gone from her home, that is, from Kanpur, to Lucknow without my permission, advice or consent. Each time, after ten or fifteen days, her parents, by talking her round, forcibly send her back with me, and each time she takes all the belongings with her without my permission. This time again my wife, without asking me, secretly went off to her home with the children and all the belongings.

Answer

The mahr is certainly obligatory (wajib). If at the time of the nikah contract a time was fixed for its payment, it must be paid at that time. If no time was fixed, it must be paid in accordance with the practice current in your family. If the wife waives it, it will be waived.
