How Thick Should the Miswak Be?

Question

Is it better for the thickness of the miswak to equal the thickness of the little finger, or that its thickness be no less than that? Please specify the extent of any excess.

Answer

It is precisely this that is written as mustahabb; and if it is somewhat thicker, even then it will not be called impermissible or makruh.
