How to Perform Mash When Water Is Harmful to the Foot
Question
On the upper part of my foot, over more than half of it, eczema has developed: it itches, and when water falls on it pus also forms. The doctors say that water is harmful. In wudu, when I first wash the remaining part, it is not possible to keep water off it, since it is in the middle. So what I wish to ask is: should I not wash the foot? Some people say, “Do mash (wiping),” but I do not know the method of mash. Please inform me about it.
Answer
Over the part of the foot for which water is harmful, mash should be performed — that is, a wet hand should be passed over it — and the rest should be washed in such a way that water does not reach that spot.
