After Hajj, He Took Bay‘ah from a Spiritual Guide with Such Circumstances — Does His Hajj Remain Valid?
Question
Bakr performed Hajj and returned, and became the disciple of a man against whom the religious scholars of Namazipur, for several reasons, issued a fatwa of kufr and separated him [from the community], striking his name from their register of disciples. So does Bakr’s Hajj remain valid now, or not? And if it remains valid, did he act correctly or not?
Answer
If Bakr himself has not adopted anything contrary to Islam that would bring upon him the ruling of kufr, then his Hajj remains valid; however, becoming the disciple of an irreligious spiritual guide, devoid of [religious] practice, who acts contrary to the Sunna, is not permissible — in this lies the ruin and destruction of religion.
